hehe it's simple generally a noob with ping 200 who kicks another noobs ass with ping 20 isnt' such a noob any more Smile

This rule is in quake normaly, but not @ delaged or whatever this mod is called Smile . Some say it's good..i don't think it's good if a 20 ping , 60 ping and a 200++ ping player plays on it..then it's crappy cause you really can't hit he 300 + guy every time

of course you could add you additional help (or lag...) with cl_timenudge seting to -5 or - 20 whatever..
Also i see many players don't know how to set rate, maxpackets, snaps higher or lower to match their connections :p

well depend on the guy with 200 ping...i used to play on dqp 1v1 and there few lots of ppl with 20 ping(which is around 100 normally) who lag like hell...u see them on 1 platform 1 sec, then for next few u don't see them and then next moment his on the other platform behind ur back..and never did see they have problem with aiming/shoting at me Rolling Eyes dunno about that delaged mod but i remember me, chick and moo played xonexfer or something on 1.32 and it truly feels like playing single player with 0 ping...it was awesome, just then u forget to aim with a small delay on other mods later...about those settings, i spent ages tweaking them and reading guides on net and gained like few ms's...best ping i got on girlz was 86 i think...but ppl still make a big deal outta them..like the time we played against some ass who kept with the "....less then 60 maxpackets is illegal" and complaining how i shouldn't be allowed to play...but if i increase my packets over 35/40 i get +500 ping..and at 125 as they say it should be for adsl connections i get 999...go figure... i would blame following things for that

1. server
2. old net code..
____

your connection may be a problem, too..which provider are u on? Are u on cable or dsl?

usually with 2 megabit's there settings are ok

cl_maxpackets 125
rate 25000
snaps 40

nah it's the connection i knew that but i think maxpackets are default 30 and it works great for me, besides no1 ever complianed to me about that except 2-3 ppl who are prepared to blame it on anything...
2mb? hahhaha maybe u get that cheap in belgrade or even nis but in aleksinac...lol Mad
so yea it's due crappy upstream, but not really having problems with it too much...
and provider telekom ofc(adsl), at least they don't limit me to 2-3gb's of trafic a month..

nah i use rate 25k, snaps 45 and not sure which cfg i'm using so not sure about timenudge but maxpackets is at 30, everything above that just adds few ms's and makes me laggy..and nope no1 ever complained about not being able to shot me...played on most of ger, uk servers..and the funniest thing about the guy who said i lag was that we were playing on chicken's xonexfer server which had the best delag effect i have ever seen...anyway was just saying those settings can imporve ur ping a bit but can also fuk up ur enemies..dunno how they do it but they literally warp from place to place and u don't really have a chance at hitting them altho they have no problems of making head shots:S...so lagzors can have a huge advantage depending on their connectio and settings

nah they are perfect as they are...btw telekom uses downstream/upstream=8:1 now...since it's some sort of standard atm...didn't they change downstream in croatia now too?

oh cool a resident network guy Very Happy It's so rare for anyone to declare their specialist subject on the same page as I type hehe

No Im not going to be a pain in the arse but have a question related to net lag. Probbly a noob thing, i just dont understand the lagometer thing but easier if i get a pic of it.

Akira I dunno if you have a poor connection but that guy had a point, as sending the server 60 mp shouldn't bleed you dry of network . I was laughing so bad because it was geeky and I'm all about the music, I just play for fun Twisted Evil Besides, he was insulting us and a little knowledge turned the guy into a bit of a prat. That mod does have lots of options and the motd does state that < 60 is unfair Very Happy Maybe so, if you uber cool and own everything and everyone. Very Happy

I guess rate = amount of incoming packets? I read about the delag stuff with XoneXfer and I do remember some of it Very Happy By increasing maxpackets your ping will increase. On that server with low ping, I dont know if that was the server or your config, what you want is a stable network. The server is accepting so little packets that it is unable to calculate movement and any kind of spike or dropped packets will mean the server has no idea what to do. The game play is comprimised to give you better ping.. I have no idea how anyone would want to play like that. Ping isn't that important, even with no knowledge you see it all the time that peoples ping can vary and does not = lag. That extra ping means it's doing what it should, it's sending more packets to the server so because your sending out more info to the server it'll take a little longer for them to return. So assuming your network is stable.. then your game is able to calculate much more accurately positioning and your game becomes smoother. With higher mp, your enemy is more likely to be at that exact position where you shoot. If you are sending the server little traffic then it might be smooth enough what you see on the screen but less reliable, your accuracy among other things are all affected.

Do you notice any difference playing? I try and limit my rate because I dont have a great connection but my rate is probably is probably well over the amount I actually need. Same again, if your overloading the network with data then you will get lag, not from the server, this time its network lag at your end.

yes i got crappy upstream chick...64kbps Crying or Very sad they supposed to double that too some day but who knows when that will happen...and those fancy 2mbps conenctions well lets just say here it would cost more then paying a rent for a standard apartman...they just have mionopol so they don't give a shit about anything...
btw about those settings..we can try it in 1v1 chick....u'll see that after 30 i will start warping...and i doubt u have problems shoting me like this...

Naa I believe you Very Happy I tried the settings above and will keep them like that as i have 0.5mb. I havent noticed any difference is any network setting ive changed but your situation is different. Most my points are gay shots anyway. One time someone helped me with my network settings and I was made to run about dm17 and shoot the same spot. Then he told me I need not tweak anymore, it's perfect for me Very Happy

I think my shots covered an area the size of the lava pit on dm7 Very Happy

You have to experiment.

I copied some setting of my serbian m8s

they are playing 1.32 Smile of course

Their pings are 8 - 60ms

rate 12000
cl_maxpackets 60
snaps 40
cl_timenudge -5

this setting are on a normal server where ping is ping, without delaging and other stuff..

Yeah, croatian t-com upgraded users which had:
1024/192 to 2048/256
2048/256 to 5120/something(perhaps 384) i can't find this packet anymore..doesn't exist..

5120/bla to 16384/768

______

now i can find this packets on t-com..

1. 2048/256
2. 8192/512
3. 16384/768

Other provider' packets are weird..

1024/256 kbps lol .pp
2048/384 kbps
3072/512 kbps
4096/640 kbps
6144/640 kbps

10240/10240 kbps

Strange ratio lol changes from packet to packet lol
i think most of our providers stick to 8:1...and they only doubled downstream to make it like this, upstream stayed the same Crying or Very sad
