This idea just popped up in my head so here it comes:

Why woudn't we make a list about quake commands to forums so its more easier to configurate your configurations it would be really cool and nice.

I know only few commands but i still put em here : P so you guys can continnue towards the list if you want.

Commands i know:

/cg_enemymodel (model)
/cg_enemycolors (color, example: 1111 = red)
/cg_thirdperson (0=no,1=yes)
/cg_thirdpersonrange (write the distance you want to see your character from behind (i usally use 150))
/com_maxfps (as much as you like, but i prefer 125)
/r_gamma (0=normal i think,1=lights map more i think)
/r_lightmap (0=no lightmap, 1=makes map all white and shiny)
/r_picmip (higher numbers make textures are not as detailed nor as many)
/cl_maxpackets (no idea what it does, probably changes max packets ^^)
/rate (no idea here either)
/cg_fov (cant discribe it, how zoomed in and out you want the game to be )

i prefer to have fps=hz on monitor

for example

com_maxfps 120
r_displayrefresh 120 (not on 1600*1200 for sure..)

Trex you sure its hz on the monitor? Since my montitor is quite the amazing piece of a equipment and i checked for the specifics and its only 60hz, so are all my other monitors, and most i can find to. I think you mean something else. There was something i saw that was 139.3 mhz on the Monitor, probably that one you are talking about then ^^.

And that R_displayrefresh doesn't seem to save for me. I write /r_displayrefresh 136,7
then it comes up that i need to restart quake. I do so and voala.. nothing happend. .
do i have to use /set or /seta?

Well my monitor can take max 80hz i think...so im using resolution 1280x1024/75hz...besides why it woudnt be that hertz thing!

@sasha - well you are probably using a lcd monitor

I like crt monitors

at lower resolutions you can put the hz @ higher values

it's ok to have hz=fps

and no, you can't set to 136.4 and similiar, some modes arent supported..

60 on a crt monitor = crap, big crap..can't even look at it for 1 minute..
75 = hm, ok..i can look at it
85 - great
90 - great
100 - very nice

on a 17" crt monitor some good resolution is 1024*768 at 75 or 85 hz or 1280*1024 at 75 hz on good monitors.


i play on 640*480 at 120 hz, r_picmip 6, r_lodbias 4, com_maxfps 120

on a 19 " monitor the good resolution would be 1280*1024 at 85 hz
